1987 Monk 36 Trawler

The Monk 36 is a semi-displacement trawler with solid fiberglass construction, designed by Ed Monk for the cruising market. Powered by a single Perkins 135-hp diesel, the boat cruises at 8 knots with a range of roughly 800 nautical miles and fuel consumption around 3 gallons per hour. Twin helm stations—one on the flybridge and one in the lower salon—provide excellent sightlines, while wide side decks with rails throughout support safe movement around the boat. The hull features a tall bow and generous freeboard, with high bulwarks and a swim platform aft.

The layout includes two cabins and two heads. The aft master stateroom holds a queen-size berth offset to starboard, with a large hanging locker to port and drawer storage to starboard. A forward V-berth stateroom serves as the second cabin. The main salon features a port settee with a high-low table that converts to a double berth, adjacent to an L-shaped galley fitted with a four-burner range and oven, refrigerator-freezer, microwave, and double stainless sink. The lower helm station is positioned forward to starboard.

Equipment includes a bow thruster, air conditioning and heating, an Onan 8-kW generator, water heater, battery charger, and shore power inlet. Navigation electronics comprise GPS plotter, radar, depth sounder, VHF radio, Robertson autopilot, and Ritchie compass. A windlass with helm and bow controls, Morse engine controls, and bilge pumps round out the system. The interior features teak woodwork with teak cap rails, a bimini top on the bridge, and stainless cleats and hawse holes. Fresh bottom paint was recently applied. Fuel, water, and waste tankage total 320, 120, and 45 gallons respectively. The engine shows 2,682 hours and the generator 1,000 hours.
