1988 Symbol 55 COCKPIT MOTOR YACHT

A 55-foot Symbol cockpit motor yacht from 1988 with a fiberglass hull and twin Caterpillar 3208 diesel engines producing 850 horsepower. The boat features excellent engine access and generous workspace in the engine room. The cockpit is designed for fishing or diving activities and opens to a swim platform, while the flybridge includes full enclosure and abundant seating. A dinghy davit system, windlass, and bow thruster are fitted.

The interior arranges two staterooms and two heads with significant storage throughout. Teak and holly flooring runs through the accommodations. The salon and cabins have flat-screen televisions, and a wine refrigerator is installed. The aft deck also carries full enclosure.

This boat took on water in late summer 2024 and has been hauled out since. A surveyor's inspection at that time noted water ingress did not reach the engine oil or transmission fluid in either motor. Both engine starters were found to be inoperable. The source of the water entry has not been determined, and no work or servicing has been performed since the boat was hauled. The hull integrity and seaworthiness remain unverified.
