1989 Hatteras Convertible

This 1989 Hatteras 65-foot convertible is built on a modified vee planning hull design with hand-laminated fiberglass and balsa-cored sides. Twin Detroit Diesel 12V92TA engines, each rated at 1035 horsepower, drive the yacht through ZF transmissions with four-bladed Nibral propellers. The boat is equipped with comprehensive navigational and safety systems including Furuno and Garmin radar and GPS plotters, dual VHF radios, an autopilot with remote, and a full suite of monitoring alarms. Power comes from two 20-kilowatt Onan generators, with 12 and 24-volt DC systems plus 120/240-volt AC shore power capability.

The interior centers on a spacious 183-square-foot cockpit with transom door access. The main cabin features a wet bar, entertainment center with flat-screen television, and an enclosed galley with four-burner cooktop, microwave convection oven, and split-door refrigerator with ice maker. A large dinette forward provides additional dining space. The accommodation plan includes a master stateroom with king berth, walk-in cedar-lined locker, and ensuite head with Jacuzzi tub; two guest staterooms each with private heads; and an equipment and laundry room with washer, dryer, and freezer.

The yacht is well-equipped for fishing and cruising. The cockpit includes a tackle center with refrigerator, freezer, and live well, six rod rocket launchers, four flush-mount rod holders, and two electric downriggers. A 12-foot RIB with 30-horsepower Mercury outboard is included with davit, and a six-person life raft is aboard. Additional features include air conditioning, a dinghy cradle, swimming platform, and transom bait tank.

Recent work includes bottom stripping with epoxy barrier coat and fresh paint, along with repainting of the cockpit sole, side decks, foredeck, and window frames. The engines show approximately 2,400 hours and have never been rebuilt.
