A 1989 Nordic 40, designed by Robert H. Perry and built to exacting standards. The hull is solid fiberglass with a balsa-cored deck and through-bolted hardware backed by solid glass. The performance keel and rudder paired with the sail plan deliver capable upwind performance, and the Nordic 40 holds its place among the finest blue water cruisers of its class.
The boat features a custom tapered mast optimized for performance. Interior highlights include a Force 10 four-burner gimballed stove with oven running on CNG, an Adler Barber cold machine for refrigeration, and teak detailing throughout—enclosed cabinets, a custom wine rack for eight bottles, and a teak folding dinette table. Both port and starboard settees have curved corners with blue ultra-suede cushions, and the interior mast is also covered in matching blue ultra-suede. Navigation equipment includes a B&G Hydra 300 Cruise Pack mounted in a teak bridge box above the companionway and a B&G Helmstar autopilot with remote control and emergency shut-off.
Deck upgrades include teak rub rails, a custom swim and boarding ladder with teak steps, and a custom stern pulpit with integrated flag staff. Below deck, the boat carries a high-output 130-amp alternator with special regulator. Factory wiring and duct work are in place for optional air conditioning and reverse-cycle heating, and the boat is pre-wired for an optional electric windlass. A stainless steel Constellation compass with pedestal mount and cover completes the navigation suite. A 44-horsepower Universal diesel engine provides auxiliary power.
