This 1990 Boston Whaler 36 Defiance is a rare aluminum pilothouse cruiser built by Pacific Victor of Seattle. The boat combines robust commercial construction with cruising comfort, featuring a deep-vee hull, wide side decks, and expansive sightlines from the pilot house. Twin Caterpillar 3208TA diesel engines deliver 435 horsepower each. The hull is constructed from 5086-grade aluminum with quarter-inch and five-sixteenths-inch plating throughout.
The boat is well-equipped for extended operation. A Northern Lights generator supplies auxiliary power, supported by a Magnum inverter and charger system. An electric anchor windlass, Furuno electronics suite installed in 2023–2024, and a comprehensive freshwater system support extended cruising. A large utility room below the pilot house provides organized storage and equipment access.
An extensive refit was completed from 2022 through 2023, including a complete overhaul of both AC and DC electrical systems, engine maintenance work on aftercoolers and hoses, custom stainless exhaust mixer pipes, new engine instrumentation, running gear refresh, interior refresh, replacement of the head and sanitation system, new water heater, new air conditioner, and custom rubrail installation. The hull was media blasted and refinished. In winter 2024–2025, both engines were removed for cleaning and repainting, and the engine room acoustic insulation was replaced.
