1990 Catalina 27

The 1990 Catalina 27 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built around family accommodation and sailing performance. The traditional interior layout prioritizes open cabin space with six-foot-two-inch headroom, featuring a folding table and a settee that extends to berths of six and six-foot-two inches. A quarter berth to starboard and a separate head with shower complete the two-cabin layout. The galley sits on the port side and includes a two-burner alcohol stove, top-loading ice box, microwave, and fifteen-gallon hot and cold pressure water system.

The boat is powered by an eighteen-horsepower Universal M3-20 diesel inboard with a twelve-gallon fuel tank, paired with Edson wheel steering featuring a guard, table, and helm cover—an upgrade from the standard tiller. Steering can be converted to the included emergency tiller if needed. The fin keel supports responsive sailing performance, particularly upwind.

The sail plan consists of a 2011 full-batten mainsail with two reefs, lazy jacks, and cover, along with a 165-percent furling genoa with UV cloth. Both sails benefit from roller furling, and lines lead aft through clutches to two cabin-top halyard winches. Primary winches and a cabin-top traveler complete the working deck. The self-bailing cockpit is large and open, with a forward hatch, two opening ports, inboard shroud attachments, and a forward deck anchor locker. Rails with double lifelines, gates, and a transom-mounted swim ladder add safety and convenience.

Standard equipment includes a VHF radio, compass, AM/FM/CD stereo, thirty-amp shore power, dual-battery twelve-volt electrical system with charger, auto and manual bilge pumps, and safety gear: four life jackets, horseshoe buoy, three fire extinguishers, and automatic fire extinguisher. The Danforth anchor with rode and chain sits in the deck locker. A steel cradle is included.
