This 72-foot center cockpit cutter was built in 1990 by T.D. Manufacturing in Vancouver to Canadian Coastguard standards. Constructed from aluminum with substantial framing and plating—including a half-inch keel and quarter-inch to five-sixteenths-inch sides—the hull is designed for durability in demanding conditions. The yacht displaces 49 tons and carries approximately 2,400 square feet of sail area, powered by a 180 HP Isuzu turbo diesel six-cylinder engine with an 800-gallon fuel capacity and 500-gallon fresh water tank.
The boat accommodates extended cruising with three heads and spacious accommodations across her 18-foot beam and 72-foot length overall. During a major refit completed in the Covid era, the yacht received an extensive systems overhaul: all new electronics including radar, plotter, sounder, VHF, and autopilot; new main sail with stack pack and electric Genoa furler; rebuilt transmission with repacked stuffing box and new Cutlass shaft bearings; three-blade feathering propeller; and fully upgraded rigging with new shrouds, turnbuckles, and stainless steel mast fittings. The hydraulic system was completely renewed with new pump, hoses, and solenoid block.
Below deck, all new 12V bilge pumps, water boiler, galley refrigeration, washer and dryer, and four new toilets with throughout-the-yacht sewage piping were installed. The electrical system received new batteries, two alternators, and four solar panels plus two wind turbines for power generation. An Arctic furnace with new carburetor, new baseboard heaters operable on shore power or generator, and new chimney extension support year-round cruising. Fuel and water systems were cleaned and replenished with new transfer pumps; approximately 95 percent of hose clamps were replaced; and all lighting converted to LED.
The boat carries an extensive inventory of spare parts including alternators, starters, and V-belts, along with a substantial tool collection and assorted fasteners. The 370 feet of high-tensile anchor chain, newly rebuilt windlass, and new cockpit canopy with Lexan windows complete the refit. She cruises at 7.5 to 8 knots and reaches approximately 8.5 to 9 knots at maximum.
