1990 Island Packet 35

The 1990 Island Packet 35 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat designed by Bob Johnson. Built with a full keel, skeg-hung rudder, and keel-stepped mast, she combines offshore capability with practical daysailing. The yacht measures 35 feet in length with a 12-foot beam and is powered by a 35-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine.

The layout includes two cabins, one head, and a galley with a two-burner stove. The cockpit is notably spacious, and storage is abundant throughout. Navigation and convenience equipment includes a Raymarinehybrid-touch GPS chartplotter and Raymarine EV-100 wheel pilot. Power comes from two AGM batteries. Cooling is handled by dual-voltage refrigeration—an Isotherm front-load unit and a 12-volt top-loader installed in 2024—plus a Dometic reverse-cycle air conditioner from 2019. The head features a Jabsco electric toilet.

Sail handling is straightforward with roller-furling staysail and genoa, a battened mainsail with two reef points, lazy jacks and stack pack, and a spinnaker. The mast carries a Tides Marine strong track. A Maxwell windlass and Rocna 25-kilogram anchor complete the ground tackle. A Magma grill is mounted on the stern rail, with dinghy davits in place.

Recent work completed in 2025 includes a new shaft, coupler, cutlass bearing, and dripless shaft seal; fresh bottom paint and hull refinishing; new exhaust elbow; heat exchanger flush; new black-water holding tank; and professional rig inspection. Earlier upgrades include replaced thru-hull fittings and exhaust hose in 2018, new bimini and canvas in 2021, and chain-plate replacement by Snead Island Boat Works.
