The 1990 Viking 53 Convertible is a solid fiberglass sport-fishing yacht built for offshore work. Powered by twin MAN 820 hp diesel engines with approximately 3,905–3,931 hours each, the boat rides on a deep-V hull with a 16.6-foot beam designed for seaway performance. The 1,100-gallon fuel capacity supports extended offshore passages. The port engine underwent major overhaul in 2017, and both engines have received consistent annual servicing including oil sampling, injector service, coolant replacement, and valve adjustments through 2026. Recent work includes new injector lines, upgraded fuel filters, serviced heat exchangers, and replacement of transmission dampers on both sides. Dripless shaft systems with replaced cutlass bearings, spare three-blade propellers, and new zincs round out the mechanical package.
The fishing cockpit is purpose-built with a transom door, livewell with rebuilt macerator pump, in-deck fishboxes, and tournament-ready layout. Cockpit electronics include a Simrad NSX 7" display. A Rule Auto-Sense 2000 bilge pump mid-bilge and two additional 2000 manual/auto pumps (bow and stern, 2022) manage water handling.
Below decks, the interior provides three staterooms and two heads. The salon was refit in 2015 with air-conditioning upgraded in 2022. The forward cabin received a new headliner with LED conversion in 2024, and all cabins have new carpet. Both heads feature rebuilt Vacu-flush systems. A new hot water heater and pressure tank were installed in 2024, along with a custom bed in the master stateroom. The 250-gallon fresh water tank and 150-gallon holding tank both received new lids and a three-point sensor.
The flybridge was completely re-upholstered in 2024 with a new polycarbonate enclosure. Electronics include three Simrad NSS Evo3 12" displays, one NSX 12", two NSX 9" bridge displays, two Raymarine Axiom 7" displays, Halo 6' radar with FLIR, dual Simrad VHF/AIS units, Simrad NAC-3 autopilot, and Starlink High Performance satellite internet. The entertainment system features JL Audio with dual 600-watt amplifiers, dual M6 10" subwoofers, and multiple speakers. Underwater lighting, LED deck floods, go-light/spotlight, and Poco-controlled spectrum color lights throughout enhance visibility and ambiance.
