This 1991 Beneteau First 45 is a performance-oriented cruising yacht designed by Bruce Farr and Pininfarina. Built from fiberglass under Bureau Veritas survey, it combines responsive handling under sail with the stability needed for Pacific Northwest cruising and offshore passages. The fractional 7/8 sloop rig features stainless steel rod standing rigging, a Dutchman lazy jack system with slab reefing, and Profurl under-deck roller furling. The boat was repowered in 2016 with a Volvo Penta D2-55F diesel (446 hours), paired with a three-blade Max-prop and dripless shaft seal. Eight two-speed Lewmar winches, including an electric halyard winch, handle the sail plan efficiently.
The interior features a two-cabin, two-head layout with mahogany wood throughout. The master suite occupies the full beam forward with an en-suite shower. The spacious mid-ship salon opens through a four-step stairway from the cockpit. The guest cabin sits aft to port. An L-shaped galley, positioned aft and to starboard, contains twin stainless steel sinks, a Force 10 three-burner gimballed stove with oven, a Nova Kool top and front-loading fridge/freezer, and a microwave. The heads feature direct discharge or overboard options via septic tanks. Extensive storage and hanging lockers throughout provide ample cruising stowage.
The comprehensive sail inventory includes multiple race and cruising sails: three mainsails (North 3Di light air, Neil Pryde Spectra, Quantum Spectra), four genoas (Sobstad, North, UK Sails options), three jibs, trysail, blast reacher, daisy staysail, and a full range of symmetrical and asymmetrical spinnakers from recent years. A 19-by-20-inch foredeck hatch provides access to the sail locker, with additional interior bow entry.
Electronics and navigation equipment include dual Brookes & Gatehouse Hercules 2000 multi-function displays at the helm, four repeater displays at the mast, Furuno 1621 radar, EM Track AIS receiver, Raymarine EVO i70 autopilot with remote control, Icom IC M56 VHF radio, Standard Horizon GPS plotter, and handheld VHF. A Ritchie magnetic compass and International Rule navigation lights complete the suite. Systems include 110 VAC shore power, a Xantrex 1800-watt inverter/charger, two 100-watt solar panels, house and start batteries (2023 and 2025), and forced-air diesel heating. Fuel capacity is 41 gallons; fresh water holds 120 gallons across five tanks. An 8-foot Osun RIB with 2014 Yamaha 8-horsepower outboard, davits, and engine hoist are included. Additional equipment includes a liferaft, rigid
