1991 Catalina 36 MkII

This 1991 Catalina 36 MkII is a 36-foot fiberglass sloop with a Universal diesel engine rated at 35 horsepower. The boat has been substantially upgraded over the past several years with a focus on reliability and offshore capability. A rebuilt engine with 311 hours on it powers the yacht, supported by a comprehensive electrical system overhaul completed in 2022 that includes 660 amp-hours of AGM battery capacity, a 2000-watt inverter/charger, 445 watts of solar panels, and a 120-amp alternator.

Navigation and communication systems reflect modern standards. The boat carries a Valcan 9 chart plotter paired with Triton2 displays, a Lowrance Halo 20+ dome radar, dual VHF radios (a Standard Horizon GX1800 at the helm and handheld backup), and an AIS transceiver. Sailing instrumentation includes a DST800 depth, speed, and temperature transducer with a masthead unit.

Sailing hardware has been renewed with a Harken 2 MKIV roller furling system, new lazy jacks, and updated running rigging. A Raymarine ST4000 wheel drive manages steering. The hull was stripped to gelcoat and refinished with barrier and bottom paint in 2021. Additional equipment includes a Webasto diesel heater installed in early 2025, a Forespar davit system for dinghy handling, and a six-person Viking coastal life raft. The boat carries dual anchoring and backup systems alongside a rebuilt windlass and manual bilge pump.
