The Southern Wind Bruce Farr Fast 72 is a 72-foot sailing yacht built on a proven design that combines ocean-crossing capability with racing performance. Powered by twin Volvo Penta diesel engines delivering 500 horsepower, she cruises comfortably at 9 knots and reaches 10 knots at speed. The fiberglass hull and deck feature a secure center cockpit, wide side decks, and generous fore and aft spaces for safe movement underway. Most running rigging leads aft to the cockpit, enabling efficient short-handed sailing.
The interior is finished in warm honey-teak throughout. The three-cabin layout includes a spacious master aft and two well-appointed guest cabins forward, along with dedicated crew quarters and three heads. This arrangement works well for extended cruising or professional crewed operation.
Recently completed refit work includes new house and engine batteries, full engine and generator service, haul-out with bottom paint, two new air conditioning units (of five total), new headliners throughout the cabin, interior and floor lighting upgrades, spreader lights, a new boom vang, bimini top, and cockpit cushions.
