The 1991 Viking 53 Convertible is a 53-foot sportfish with twin MAN diesel engines rated at 1,640 horsepower, delivering a cruising speed of 23 knots and a top speed of 29 knots. The fiberglass hull spans 16.58 feet at the beam, providing a stable platform designed for both serious offshore fishing and comfortable cruising. Power and control come from bow and stern thrusters, while deck equipment includes a 1,000-pound foredeck davit and a full complement of fishing gear standard to the design.

Below decks, the layout centers on a midship master stateroom positioned at the point of least motion, featuring a walk-around queen bed, entertainment center, private head, and cedar-lined hanging locker. Two guest staterooms forward contain upper and lower bunks with generous stowage. The main salon, dinette, and galley all sit on the same level thanks to the generous beam, with teak cabinetry and built-in amenities including an L-shaped convertible lounge, wetbar, and full entertainment system. The galley offers a convection microwave, rangetop with concealing countertop, and refrigeration. Climate control comes through three separate air-conditioning zones.

The 151-square-foot cockpit is purpose-built for fishing with a 29-inch transom door, 6-foot recessed fishwell, molded-in tackle cabinet with freezer, bait prep sink, rod holders, and washdowns. The hardtop bridge accommodates ten guests with comfortable seating and secure grabrails, incorporating a venturi windshield and integrated electronics box overhead. The helm includes a Garmin 9224 24-inch multifunction display, chartwork station, and ample panel space for fishfinding and navigation systems.

The engine room demonstrates substantial engineering with each engine mounted to paired steel beams fastened to dedicated bulkheads, minimizing flexing and drivetrain wear. Advanced sound deadening includes a six-inch composite sole beneath the engine compartment, keeping noise well separated from the cockpit. Systems are comprehensively monitored with gauges on each engine, reflecting the attention to structural detail throughout the build.
