This 1992 Privilege 482 is a 48-foot fiberglass catamaran engineered for extended ocean voyaging. The yacht features twin Kubota diesel engines with shaft drive and recent transmission overhauls, supported by a comprehensive electrical system centered on a large solar array, new 3000W inverter, and new lithium battery bank rated at 1000 amp-hours. The rig includes standing rigging replaced in 2020 and a Code D nylon headsail on a continuous furler for downwind sailing without requiring deck work.
Five separate cabins provide sleeping for up to ten, with four cabins offering en suite facilities. The forward cabins have separate shower stalls, while the center nacelle contains a crew cabin with a queen berth. Four heads service the accommodations, with two forward heads featuring dedicated showers and a composting toilet option in one aft head. The galley is spacious with a four-burner gas stove, oven, broiler, large refrigeration, and abundant counter space. A dedicated navigation station sits starboard with a washing machine nearby, powered by the solar array.
The hull and systems reflect significant recent work. Topsides were refinished, the bottom treated with Coppercoat and re-activated in 2025, and all below-water through-hulls replaced with composite fittings. Both rudders were rebuilt in 2020 with solid stainless steel stocks and lightweight epoxy filler. All hatches were replaced with low-profile versions. The custom hardtop covers the cockpit with fiberglass and aluminum construction, incorporating additional solar panels. Wide side decks and multiple handholds support safe movement at sea.
The watermaker operates from the inverter without requiring generator runtime, and the electrical system includes LED lighting throughout, 12V fans in all cabins, and individual circuit protection. A fresh water system features high-capacity pumping with pre-filtration, and dual-source heads can draw from fresh or salt water. Engine room access from the cockpit keeps machinery noise and odors separate from living spaces. Multiple bilge pumps, extensive safety gear, and onboard spares support long-range cruising.
