The 1993 Amel Super Maramu is a proven bluewater cruiser built for ocean crossings and serious passagemaking. Designed as a ketch with a staysail, the boat offers flexibility in sail plans and adapts readily to varying weather conditions. Sail handling is straightforward thanks to electric furling systems on the mainsail and genoa, paired with electric winches controlled from a deep, protected cockpit that provides security and shelter across all conditions.
Recent upgrades significantly enhance the boat's capability and autonomy. The standing rigging was renewed in 2026, including outer and inner shrouds, guard rails, mizzen sail pulley, and halyards. A lithium battery bank installed in 2025 provides strong electrical independence at sea. The Volvo D2-75 diesel engine, fitted in 2013, runs only 2,475 hours and received full servicing in May 2026, including heat exchanger and exhaust elbow cleaning. The electric furling system was fully upgraded in 2024 with new motors and gear units. Additional self-sufficiency systems include 600 watts of solar panels and a 60-liter-per-hour watermaker. Sails are well-maintained: a Hydranet mainsail from 2010 serviced in 2025, a new mizzen sail installed in 2026, and a Delta Voiles genoa from 2013 in good condition.
Below deck, the layout suits extended cruising for a couple or family. The saloon is spacious with good ventilation and natural light. The galley is fully equipped with an oven, gas cooktop, and double sink. An aft owner's cabin holds a double and single berth; a forward guest cabin provides additional space. Two ensuite bathrooms serve each cabin, and a dedicated passage berth near the chart table supports watchkeeping. Navigation systems include B&G and Garmin electronics with chartplotter and radar. Two Raymarine autopilots, a 100-meter anchor chain with 34-kilogram anchor and electric windlass, a Plastimo tender with new cover, and outboard motors (Yamaha 8 hp from 2025 and Tohatsu 5 hp from 2016) complete the equipment package. The Volvo engine and transmission were serviced in May 2026, with shaft seals, anodes, propeller, and saildrive oil serviced as well. Antifouling was applied in March 2025.
Navigation electronics function but are older than current systems. Air conditioning is not operational.
