1993 Grand Banks 49 Classic

This 49-foot Grand Banks trawler combines proven seaworthiness with thoughtful long-term upgrades. Twin Caterpillar diesel engines rated at 750 total horsepower deliver a cruising speed of 10 knots and a maximum speed of 13 knots, supported by nearly 4,700 hours of dependable service. The fiberglass hull and classic design make her well-suited to extended cruising in challenging waters from Alaska to Central America.

The galley-down configuration distinguishes this boat from the traditional Grand Banks 49 layout. By moving the galley to the lower, most stable part of the hull, the arrangement creates a functional cooking space safe to use underway while opening the salon into a genuine living area—a practical trade-off for serious cruisers. Accommodations include three staterooms with a full complement of heads, one featuring a stacked washer and dryer.

Systems throughout reflect continuous maintenance and deliberate upgrades over years of active cruising. A gyro stabilizer installed in 2021 provides exceptional motion control without fin-stabilizer risks. Dual Racor filters protect each engine; hydraulic steering was converted during the stabilizer installation; an isolation transformer safeguards against galvanic corrosion; and extensive soundproofing quiets the engine room. Propellers were replaced with CNC-machined bronze units for improved efficiency, with originals retained as spares.

Navigation and seamanship equipment are comprehensive: three Raymarine hybrid touchscreen displays with integrated radar and autopilot; a new 3-D depth sounder with conventional backup; bow and stern thrusters; a stern camera; and an upgraded ground tackle system featuring a 55-kilogram Mantus anchor with 300 feet of chain on a powered windlass with remote and chain counter. Additional gear includes a watermaker, 20-kilowatt generator, 2-kilowatt inverter-charger, trizone hydronic furnace, holding plate refrigeration, and a Highfield RIB tender with 25-horsepower Yamaha. A six-person offshore life raft, stern drogue, and multiple anchors round out the serious cruising inventory.
