The CMN 139 is a 137-foot composite sailing yacht completed in 1994, designed for cruising with minimal crew. Originally built as SY Friday Star, the boat underwent comprehensive transformation between 2014 and 2021 into a luxury cruising vessel, with redesign by Couédel Hugon emphasizing contemporary aesthetics through carbon fiber, aluminium, leather, and natural wood finishes. The three-mast sail plan features hydraulic furlers and centralized cockpit controls, making the yacht manageable for a small team. A flush deck converts easily between racing configuration and open sunbathing space while cruising.
Accommodations span two decks and include a deck saloon with dining for twelve, a lower saloon appointed with leather seating and entertainment systems, and a master cabin forward with private office, toilet, and Italian-style shower. Three additional staterooms provide flexible berthing—two with convertible sliding beds and pullman options, plus independent crew quarters for four with separate bathroom access. The galley operates at full-beam width with professional appliances including triple ovens and vitro-ceramic cooktops. Navigation and crew areas are integrated throughout with storage in bow and stern lazarets.
Power comes from a single Volvo TAMD 74 diesel of 430 horsepower, delivering a cruising speed of 10 knots. The engine logged 1,800 hours with overhaul in 2020. Two 32 kVA Kohler generators provide onboard power. Hydraulic systems manage bow and stern thrusters, the furling gear, gangway, swimming ladder, and retractable roof. Navigation features include B&G H5000 racing system with Triton display, B&G IS40 autopilot, dual Furuno touchscreen plotters, GPS, and Navtex. Deck equipment includes nine electric Harken winches and two Maxwell windlasses supporting the sail plan.
