Water Bear is a center cockpit Freedom 45, built in 1994 by Tillitson-Pearson Inc. The deck design prioritizes clean, open space with a deep secure cockpit, electric Harken halyard winch, and accessible main traveler. High stanchions and secure lifelines run the length of the boat, and the engine room is accessible from all sides for straightforward maintenance.
The interior is notably spacious for the 45-foot length. The forward cabin connects to a large head with ensuite shower, while the main salon combines comfortable living space with substantial storage. The aft cabin features a centerline queen berth and is exceptionally generous in proportion to the hull size. A separate aft head with shower completes the layout.
Recent upgrades include a new chart plotter, autopilot with controller, GPS antenna, AIS receiver/transmitter, 400 amp hours of lithium batteries, two Victron Orion charge controllers, new depth sounder, and wind gauge installed in early 2025. Interior systems have been renewed with Seafrost refrigeration and a full freshwater plumbing system in PEX. Raw water systems and hoses have been updated throughout.
The boat is powered by a 78 hp Yameter diesel engine, delivering 6 knots cruising speed and 8 knots maximum. With two cabins and two heads, the layout suits extended cruising and comfortable live-aboard use.
