The Island Packet 32 is a 35-foot cruising sailboat built with fiberglass hull construction and powered by a single 27-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine. The design combines a full-foil keel with traditional long-keel characteristics, offering moderate draft, exceptional stability, and strong integral keel and hull construction. The cutter rig carries three sails—genoa and self-tending staysail with roller furling, plus a third sail—configured for easy management by a small crew. Control lines lead aft to the cockpit for sail handling underway. The 11.5-foot beam and easily driven long waterline hull provide excellent windward performance and resistance to heel and leeway.
The deck features full-length handrails, a recessed foredeck with raised bulwarks, and large unobstructed cabin top surfaces for security and safety. The cockpit offers long contoured seats with deep backrests suitable for seating or sleeping. A premium rack and pinion steering system enhances control and handling. The platform extends the sail plan forward for closer sheeting angles.
Below deck, the main salon serves as an open area or dining space with a folding bulkhead-mounted table. The port-side settee converts to a double bunk. An oversize quarterberth and aft cabin can be enclosed with a privacy curtain. The U-shaped galley includes generous counter space, deep stainless steel sinks, a large well-insulated ice box, and a premium propane range. The head incorporates an encloseable shower with separate sump pump drainage. Accommodations feature varnished teak and holly soles in living areas and molded non-skid surfaces in high-traffic zones.
Hull construction uses solid triaxial roving for impact and puncture resistance, and the exclusive Poly Clad gelcoat system. Deck laminates employ the PolyCore system for high strength with reduced weight. Interior construction consists of a molded structural pan attached to floor timbers and bulkheads forming a strong unit structure. The engine is accessible through removable fore and aft covers.
