This 1995 Grand Banks 38 Eastbay EX is a 38-foot downeast cruiser built with a fiberglass deep-vee hull. The boat was comprehensively reengined in 2025 with twin Caterpillar C7.1 diesel engines rated at 500 horsepower each, totaling 1,000 hp. The new powerplant includes electronic shift and throttle controls with integrated synchronization, digital display panels for fuel consumption and engine data, fresh exhaust components, new shafts, shaft logs, struts, and propellers. The engines carry a factory warranty through August 2027.
The yacht cruises at 27 knots with a maximum speed of 32 knots and operates on a 13-foot 2-inch beam. Below deck is a single cabin with one head, suitable for overnight use. The interior received new upholstery and upgraded electrical systems during the refit, including modern charging systems, an inverter unit, wiring, and batteries.
The reengining and refit work took place between 2022 and 2025 and involved replacement of major mechanical and electrical components throughout. The new engines have approximately 50 operating hours and are paired with ZF gears. This combination delivers the performance and efficiency characteristics of modern diesel propulsion while maintaining the classic downeast hull design of the original Grand Banks build.
