The Hunter Legend 40.5 is a 40-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat built in 1995. Powered by a 50-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, it combines comfortable accommodations with solid sailing capability, making it suitable for both weekend trips and extended passages.
The interior features two cabins and two heads, with a galley and saloon arranged for livable cruising. Climate control comes from a Webasto hydronic heating system with zone controls. The main cabin includes a 12-volt refrigerator and separate freezer, while an electric head serves the aft cabin and a conventional marine head serves forward. A flat-screen television is installed in the saloon.
On deck, the boat carries a conventional mainsail, 130 genoa, and spinnaker. An electric main halyard winch assists sail handling. A Dodger, Bimini top, and connector provide weather protection. The cockpit features closed-cell foam cushions and is equipped with a rail-mounted barbecue.
Recent work on the boat includes shaft and PSS dripless seal replacement, bottom paint and mast maintenance completed in March 2026 with an out-of-water survey performed at that time. The refrigerator received new plates and compressor, and a new AGM starting battery was installed. An inverter with five lithium batteries has been added for power management. Four solar panels and a wind generator provide auxiliary charging, with a portable generator also aboard. The boat includes a rail-mounted outboard bracket with outboard engine, and galley equipment and flatware remain onboard.
