1995 Mares 58 Power Cat

This 1995 Mares 58 Power Cat catamaran is built on a fiberglass hull with twin MAN engines producing 1,680 horsepower combined. The boat reaches a maximum speed of 29 knots and cruises at 24 knots. The stepped sponson design helps the boat ride high and dry. The starboard engine underwent a complete rebuild in 2021 with under 100 hours of operation; the port engine was majored at 2,000 hours and currently shows 3,400 hours. Both engines were serviced within the last 15 hours.

A comprehensive restoration was completed in 2015 and 2016, covering the hull and superstructure exterior paint and a complete interior overhaul. The boat features custom teak drop-leaf dinette and salon tables, all ceiling and wall upholstery custom fitted, redesigned galley cabinetry, and an Isotherm refrigerator and freezer unit. All deck hatches were replaced with Bomar and Latitude 26 units. Hand-finished cabinetry and hardware throughout the interior were restored during this period.

Electronics installed during the 2015–2016 refit include a Garmin 7616 multi-touch chartplotter with integrated engine room camera and sonar, SIMRAD AP 28 autopilot, IC-M506 VHF radio, and a FUSION stereo system with amplifier, subwoofer, and three-zone capability. A ProNautic battery charger was added in 2025.

The boat carries a 20 kW Onan generator with new windings fitted in June 2021; the generator was also serviced recently and shows 3,077 total hours. Onboard systems include five air conditioning units (three newer units installed in 2016, one from 2008, and one original unit that remains functional), dual freshwater tanks totaling 200 gallons, and fuel capacity of 930 gallons across main and reserve tanks distributed fore and aft. The boat achieves approximately 300 nautical miles at cruise speed and 750 nautical miles at displacement speed. Both heads were rebuilt with stainless steel macerator units during the 2016 refit. Main propellers were reconditioned and balanced in May 2025, and spare props are included.
