This 2001 Shuttleworth 58 is a custom-built trimaran designed for high-speed sailing performance. Its lightweight construction combines three-layer red cedar reinforced with carbon and epoxy, with carbon fiber decking, cross beams, and bulkheads. The daggerboard and rudder use carbon foam cores. The yacht measures 58 feet in length with a 42.67-foot beam, drafts 1.5 meters with the rudder up or 3.2 meters with the daggerboard down, and weighs approximately 5.5 tons. Under sail it reaches speeds exceeding 30 knots, while under its 52-horsepower Vetus Peugeot diesel engine it cruises at 6 knots.
The sail plan features a rotatable 22-meter carbon wing mast adjustable to 45 degrees on each side. Main sails measure 95 square meters, with a self-tailing jib of 50 square meters and a gennaker of 180 square meters. A 2024 refit included a new North Sails main, serviced rigging with new capshrouds, and fresh trampoline nets. The engine, antifouling system with Coppercoat, and all safety equipment were also serviced in 2024.
The interior offers a spacious salon with panoramic views, a fully equipped galley with stove, oven, sink, and 24-volt refrigeration, and sleeping accommodations including two double berths, one single berth, and additional salon berths. One head features a vacuum flush electric toilet and shower, with an exterior deck shower also available. Water capacity is 600 liters and fuel capacity is 300 liters.
Navigation systems include a B&G Hercules platform with wind sensors, autopilot, echolot, and MOB function, plus a Zeus chart plotter, Furuno GPS, B&G AIS, and an EPIRB. Power includes 220-volt shore power with Mastervolt charging. The yacht carries an inflatable tender with a 2.5-horsepower Suzuki outboard, Bügelanker primary anchor and Delta spare anchor, and six life jackets and harnesses.
