This 1995 Prout 45 is a fiberglass catamaran built for bluewater cruising. The 45-foot hull spans nearly 21 feet on the beam, with narrow, efficient hulls designed for ocean crossing. Powered by twin 80-horsepower Volvo Penta diesel engines, she cruises at 8.6 knots and reaches a maximum of nearly 10 knots. The hand-laid fiberglass construction uses isophthalic resin with biaxial material and end-grain balsa reinforcement, strengthened with Kevlar in key areas and fully reinforced below the waterline. Her low-profile cabin reduces windage while the reinforced bridgedeck provides solid structural integrity.
The layout centers on a comfortable saloon with the galley positioned in the starboard hull, leaving an open cabin space. The owner's cabin occupies the forward section along the centerline, while the distinctive Prout nacelle running fore and aft adds headroom and living space throughout. Two heads serve the three-cabin layout. Wide transom steps ease water access, and the cutter-rigged sloop configuration allows for versatile sail handling with all lines leading aft to the cockpit.
The boat carries 100 gallons of fuel and 200 gallons of water, supporting extended cruising. Recent additions include lithium battery upgrades, a chartplotter, AIS transceiver, and a new EPIRB. Navigation and monitoring electronics are in place, along with a Seawater Pro 120-volt watermaker rated at 40 gallons per hour. An oversized genoa completes the sail inventory. The yacht has undergone recent annual service and a yard haul-out.
