The 1996 Hunter 336 is a 33-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat powered by a 27-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine. Built around Hunter's B&R fractional rig, the design eliminates the backstay for a larger mainsail and easier jib handling, creating a stable and forgiving platform for coastal cruising. A wide beam and fin keel with bulb provide good stability and performance across varying water conditions.
The interior layout maximizes the modest length with an open saloon featuring 6'4" headroom and large wraparound windows, a forward vee berth, an aft cabin with queen-sized berth, galley with two-burner stove and oven, and a single head with shower. The spacious cockpit includes a walk-through transom, wheel steering, folding table, and integrated swim platform with telescoping ladder. Full cockpit enclosure and bimini top are fitted.
Recent upgrades to the boat include a Raymarine EV1 autopilot installed in 2021, new Nova Kool refrigeration added in 2022, and a luxury layered foam mattress installed in 2025. The rig features a full-batten mainsail with Dutchman flaking system, 110-percent furling jib with new sheets, and solid stainless boom vang. The propulsion system uses a dripless shaft seal and three-blade fixed propeller.
Electrical systems include twin 120-watt solar panels, upgraded Balmar alternator, new Xantrex battery charger with monitor, battery isolator, and 1500-watt inverter. Navigation equipment comprises a Raymarine C125 multifunction display with GPS, ST60 depth and wind instruments, and SeaTalk backbone. Anchoring includes an electric windlass with remote controller, oversized stainless Bruce anchor, and Danforth backup. Additional equipment includes deck washdown, outboard motor crane, hot and cold pressure water, and cockpit speakers.
