1996 Island Packet 40

The Island Packet 40 is a fiberglass cruising sailboat built for extended voyaging and comfortable living aboard. This 1996 model features a 40-foot hull with a 19-foot-8-inch beam, powered by a 50-horsepower Yammer diesel engine. The boat carries two cabins and benefits from a comprehensive 2021 refit that modernized its systems and accommodations.

The owner's stateroom forward was extensively renovated to include a new Island Queen berth with custom cabinetry and hanging lockers, creating an open floor plan with easy access for sleeping and living. The layout was designed with the live-aboard cruiser in mind. A second cabin provides additional accommodation options.

The 2021 refit addressed both structural and mechanical systems throughout. New standing rigging, chainplates, and sails improve sailing performance and safety. A new bow thruster enhances maneuverability in close quarters. Below the waterline, the hull was soda-blasted and barrier-coated, and a new cutlass bearing was installed. The boat received new systems including a holding tank, macerator pump, heat exchanger, and a Tides Marine Strong Track system for mainsail control. New cockpit canvas and solar panels complete the recent upgrades.
