This 35-foot KenCraft Down East Express is a traditional-style cruiser built on a modified V planing hull with hard chines. Twin Cummins 6BTA diesel engines rated at 315 hp each provide propulsion, with both engines replaced in 2018 and currently showing only 350 hours. The ZF transmissions were also replaced at that time. The boat reaches a maximum speed of 30 knots and cruises at 21 knots.
The layout centers on a large aft cockpit with a center-mounted helm station to starboard and dive tank storage. Forward in the main salon there is generous seating, while the bow features a V berth. A single head sits to port, with a storage closet opposite to starboard. The twin engines are mounted below deck and accessed via deck hatches. An aluminum dive platform with ladder and bench seating has been installed aft, along with the removable center cockpit seating station.
The fiberglass hull and deck design support extended coastal cruising or diving operations. The boat's layout and equipment make it suitable for various uses including fishing or dive charter work in domestic and Caribbean waters.
