The Oyster 45 is a proven ocean-going cruiser built to Lloyd's standards with hand-laid fiberglass construction, a high-performance bulb keel, and fully protected skeg-hung rudder. At 46 feet, the yacht balances serious bluewater capability with manageable handling for shorthanded sailing. The sloop rig carries a fully battened mainsail and Harken furling headsail, both supported by a comprehensive Harken winch system. Recent upgrades include a new electric windlass (2020), lazy bag (2024), and bow thruster with fresh batteries (2024). The standing rigging was renewed in 2007 and the forestay in 2014. Sails by Rolly Tasker—mainsail, genoa, and cruising chute—date from 2016 and remain virtually unused.
The interior showcases the classic Oyster deck saloon design with light oak joinery and teak cabin soles throughout. Three cabins sleep six across a forward double, twin cabin, and generous aft owner's stateroom with en suite. The saloon features seven windows, including opening ports for ventilation, and a substantial dining table. A dedicated workshop aft of the chart table suits extended cruising. The galley houses a Force 10 cooker, keel-cooled freezer (new 2017), and upright refrigeration. Two full heads serve the accommodation. Webasto central heating and comprehensive Raymarine navigation systems—chart plotter, radar, autopilot, and AIS—support all-weather cruising.
The 60 hp Volvo diesel with saildrive received major service in June 2024, new starter motor in November 2025, and new pumps and belts in 2024. The folding propeller was serviced the same month. Twin alternators supply 900 Ah of new domestic batteries (2024) and fresh engine-start and bow-thruster batteries. The fuel tank was cleaned and inspected in June 2024, as was the 636-liter water tank. Anti-fouling paint is fresh from July 2025, the teak deck newly oiled in spring 2025 with caulking replaced as needed. Non-skid deck coating dates from July 2024. An osmosis treatment was completed in 2015 following a 2014 survey.
Included are a tender and four-horsepower outboard, alongside warps, fenders, and marine tools. The boat has been progressively updated and presents a robust platform for extended offshore and liveaboard use.
