This 65-foot steel-hulled pilothouse yacht was built by Rodriguez in 1997 as a long-range fishing and cruising platform. Twin Lugger 6108A diesel engines each producing 300 horsepower drive her to a cruising speed of 7 knots at economical throttle, extending her 4,300-nautical-mile range on a full load of 4,300 gallons of fuel. A bulbous bow, added after construction by Bray Yacht Design, improves efficiency and reduces drag. The hull is fitted with Wesmar stabilizers and a 13-inch electric bow thruster for control in varied conditions.
The layout centers on serious fishing capability: a raised cockpit with 18 by 13 feet of deck space, high safety rails, a tuna tower above the flybridge, and a working transom with centerline door. The foredeck carries dual anchors in dedicated lockers with 400 feet of chain and additional rope scope. Below-deck refrigerated fish holds occupy the space beneath the cockpit. Three independent helm stations—one on the flybridge, one in the pilothouse, and one aft on the upper deck—allow operation from anywhere on the boat. Navigation and engine controls are current: twin 16-inch Simrad MFD screens on Simrad software, a 10-kilowatt open-array radar, FLIR thermal camera, dedicated scanning sonar, and multiple VHF and SSB radios.
Four cabins and three heads provide comfortable accommodations below. The owner's suite to starboard holds a queen berth with en suite shower and head. A guest cabin to port has upper and lower bunks; two additional staterooms forward and across the companionway complete the sleeping arrangements. The main salon features natural light from ten large windows, an L-shaped sofa and formal dining area seating eight, and a galley equipped with a convection oven, four-burner cooktop with griddle, dishwasher, and a three-door refrigerator with icemaker. The pilothouse includes a raised helm chair, sea berth, chart drawer, and comfortable crew seating. Throughout, commercial-grade carpeting, teak joinery, air-conditioning, and hot water heating provide livable conditions at sea.
Recent investments include turbos on both main engines and a new starboard transmission in 2020, new generating sets in 2017 and 2023, hull and topsides repainted in 2022, and all mattresses replaced in 2022. Battery banks, start batteries for all three generators, and the house inverter system are new as of 2023. A 14-foot tender with 8-horsepower outboard hangs from a 1000-pound davit on deck. The boat remains equipped for genuine offshore work and exploration.
