This 1997 Van De Stadt 56 is an aluminum lifting-keel cruiser built for safe, fast passagemaking and comfortable extended cruising. The design combines a practical deck layout with offshore capability: a protected cockpit features twin helm stations, fixed dodger, and bimini top for crew shelter. Sail handling relies on two hydraulic winches with all lines led aft, making the boat manageable for a small crew. The sloop rig carries 164 m² upwind with a hydraulic Genoa furler and carbon V-Boom mainsail. A hydraulic bow thruster aids harbor maneuvering, and the distinctive lifting keel adjusts draft from 1.60 to 3.00 meters, allowing exploration of shallow anchorages without sacrificing offshore performance.

Below deck, the interior provides three cabins and two heads suited to extended voyaging. The forward owner's cabin holds a double berth to port and single to starboard, with an en-suite head and separate shower. Aft, a double cabin to starboard opens to a day head, while a bunk cabin to port includes a washbasin. The saloon and galley are arranged for safe seagoing.

The boat has been refitted extensively between 2015 and 2018, with light use since. The ESTHEC deck was renewed in 2015 and remains low-maintenance. Technically, she is equipped for independent cruising with diesel heating, air conditioning, water maker, generator, inverter, and updated B&G navigation electronics. A Yanmar diesel engine of 200 hp provides auxiliary power.
