1998 Cobalt 220

The 1998 Cobalt 220 is a 22-foot runabout built with hand-laid fiberglass construction using seven layers of glass mat and woven roving, finished with Armorflex 953 gelcoat. The hull incorporates Cobalt's Hydrolam process for consistency and strength, with Kevlar-E-glass reinforcement along the keel, chines, and strakes for impact resistance. All hardware is backed by embedded aluminum plates, and the deck and hull employ AME 1000 vinylester resins for durability and chemical resistance. Fiberglass motor mounts and stringers form an integrated system to reduce vibration and noise.

The cockpit features Varadense-cushioned captain's chairs, a leather-trimmed steering wheel with tilt adjustment, and a color-matched convertible top. The snap-in carpet covers finished non-skid surfaces throughout the cockpit and bow. A walk-thru door provides access between sections. The sundeck interior is appointed with a fully upholstered dash and flip-lip bucket seats, with a Sony digital sound system included.

Storage is integrated throughout, with dedicated spaces including a ski locker for knee boards. Carpet lines appropriate areas while rubber matting protects others, with drainage to the bilge and lighting where needed. The boat accommodates nearly 30 powertrain options available in single or dual-prop drive configurations, allowing owners to select engines suited to their intended use.

The 220 came equipped with standard features including the convertible top, leather steering wheel, snap-in carpet, and digital sound system. Optional equipment available on the model includes transom showers, rosewood dash panels, port sleeper seats, swiveling cockpit tables, starboard windshield wipers, and stern curtains.
