1998 Custom 30 Gentleman's Racer

This 1998 Custom 30 Gentleman's Racer is a one-of-a-kind wooden performance boat hand-built by Sam Donato. The hull features four layers of cold-molded Honduran mahogany planking—over 1.8 miles of it in total—constructed to aircraft standards. The design draws inspiration from classic racing boats, combining elegant proportions with serious performance capability.

Power comes from a single MerCruiser engine rated at 380 horsepower, delivering a maximum speed of 50 knots and a cruising speed of 30 knots. The boat's 30-foot length and narrow 6.67-foot beam are optimized for speed and handling in a nimble, refined package suited to day running and coastal cruising.

Recent work includes fresh varnish, polished chrome, and replacement of manifolds and risers. The mahogany hull and brightwork reflect consistent care, with the boat having been stored under cover since construction. It is supplied with a trailer and ready for operation.
