1998 Oyster 485

The 1998 Oyster 485 is a center cockpit cruising yacht designed by Holman and Pye, built to British standards for bluewater sailing. At 48 feet with a beam of 14.83 feet, she carries the classic Oyster proportions: low freeboard, gentle sheerline, and balanced ends. The design emphasizes seaworthiness and ease of handling for extended offshore passages.

The boat features a three-cabin, two-head layout with a deck salon and full cockpit enclosure. The center cockpit offers a spacious walkaround aft center berth. The forward V-berth is fitted as a workshop with a bench and dedicated storage for tools and spares. A Perkins diesel of 90 horsepower drives the yacht; a bow thruster assists maneuvering in close quarters. The shoal draft hull draws 6 feet, with a mast height of 65 feet, and carries an in-mast furling mainsail.

Equipment includes Starlink connectivity, a water maker, comprehensive B&G electronics with autopilot, a generator (1776 hours), reverse-cycle heat and air conditioning, and a watertight bulkhead forward. A heavy-duty davit system rated at 300 pounds each handles the tender. A new 15-horsepower Yamaha two-stroke outboard and Achilles tender are included.
