The Prout 38 is a cruising catamaran built on a fiberglass hull, designed for seagoing reliability and comfort. The boat is powered by twin Volvo diesel engines of 20 hp each, with recorded running hours of 2,200 as of 2024 and regular annual maintenance. The catamaran's dual propulsion and wide beam make it responsive in tight maneuvers and provide excellent sightlines from the cockpit.
The three-cabin layout includes a bright, sociable main saloon with good stowage throughout, suitable for both coastal and offshore cruising. The galley is fully equipped with a stove, oven, sink, and refrigerator. Navigation and comfort systems are comprehensive: GPS, autopilot, VHF radio, depth sounder, 12/220-volt converter, and solar panels for electrical autonomy.
The sail plan is complete, with mainsail, jib, and staysail on roller furling, allowing flexible sail configuration in changing conditions. An adjustable boarding passerelle can be positioned at the bow or stern as needed for different mooring situations. The boat has had only two owners since new and is ready for cruising or extended voyages.
