The Ta Chiao CT 56 is a 1999 sailing yacht with a fiberglass hull, 53.5 feet in length and 15 feet in beam. She is powered by a single 135 hp Perkins diesel engine and carries three sails on furling gear, designed for easy handling by a small crew. The boat reaches a cruising speed of 7 knots and a maximum speed of 9 knots, with a four-blade variable-pitch propeller and bow thruster for maneuvering in tight spaces.
Major refits were completed in 2011 and 2024. The 2024 work included new standing rigging, new caprails, new ports, new electric winches, new refrigeration, and a new battery system. The main and mizzen masts were removed and stepped twice under current ownership, with fittings checked and replaced throughout. All navigation equipment was renewed in 2011. The 12mm teak decks, laid new in 2010, were re-caulked during the 2024 refit and remain in excellent condition. A hard top shelters the cockpit and provides protection in tropical conditions.
The interior follows traditional design with a color scheme and materials reflecting classical styling. The forward section was substantially remodeled, transforming the original small fore cabin into a spacious retreat. A generous en-suite head and shower occupy the starboard side, while a practical workshop lies to port. The machinery has been thoroughly serviced with numerous renewals and is in full running condition.
