2000 Catalina 42 MkII

This 2000 Catalina 42 Mark II is a 42-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat with a shallow-draft wing keel and balanced masthead sloop rig. Powered by a 56-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine with folding propeller, the boat cruises at 7.5 knots and reaches 9 knots at maximum speed. The design prioritizes ease of handling for shorthanded sailing or larger crews, with responsive performance across all points of sail and the shallow draft making it suitable for exploring shallow cruising grounds like the Bahamas and the Keys.

The interior features two cabins and two heads. The master cabin includes a Pullman berth layout with ample storage and dresser-style drawers. The galley is well-equipped with generous counter space, a large refrigerator, and pantry-style storage. A propane grill is mounted on the stern pulpit. The boat offers wide side decks and a walk-through transom swim platform. Windows and ventilation create a bright living space, with teak joinery throughout.

Recent maintenance and upgrades include a mainsail replacement in 2016, standing rigging and turnbuckles replaced in 2022, an Axiom 9-inch chart plotter installed in 2022, and a Quantum radar added the same year. Navigation electronics include a VHF Matrix radio with AIS (receive-only) installed in March 2023. Solar panels with a digital regulator were added in 2023. Air conditioning (1600 BTU) was replaced in May 2023. Macerator pumps, fresh water pump, propane solenoid, and sump pump were all replaced in 2022. The forward head was rebuilt in April 2024, and a new bottom job was completed. Battery systems include AGM start and house batteries replaced in 2022.

Equipment includes an autopilot, Dodger and Bimini with covers, Mack Pack and lazy jack system, a 4-man life raft, wind generator (needing blades), delta anchor with 150 feet of chain and spare Fortress anchor, new 10-foot inflatable dinghy with 9.9-horsepower Mercury outboard, dripless stuffing box, and spare parts and tools. Water tankage holds 115 gallons; fuel capacity is 82 gallons across three tanks.
