2000 CT 56

This 56-foot CT is a heavy-displacement cruising yacht built by Ta Chiao Shipbuilding in Taiwan and designed by naval architect Robert Perry. The fiberglass hull measures 15'6" in beam and carries a long keel and ketch rig engineered for offshore passagemaking. Power comes from a 135 hp Perkins diesel with cruising speed of 7 knots and maximum speed of 11 knots. A four-blade MaxProp and bow thruster manage close-quarters maneuvering, while four furling sails allow easy adjustment from the cockpit.

The interior accommodates six cabins and six heads arranged across approximately 6'6" of headroom. Wraparound windows and the broad 15'6" beam create open, naturally lit living spaces finished throughout in handcrafted teak joinery. The design reflects careful construction quality typical of Taiwanese-built yachts of this era.

A comprehensive refit completed in 2019 modernized major systems: new Doyle sails, standing and running rigging, B&G Zeus electronics package, Fusion marine entertainment system, new mattresses, and a repainted and re-stepped main and mizzen mast with renewed fittings. The hull received a Stars & Stripes Blue Awlgrip finish. Equipment also includes an 11-foot Walker Bay Super Tender with 30 hp Tohatsu outboard.

Recent additions strengthen systems for extended cruising: a Spectra watermaker, Splendide washer/dryer, three Raritan Elegance electric heads with fresh and raw-water capability, and four new 8D AGM house batteries installed in 2025. The yacht's heavy displacement, long keel, and ketch configuration deliver sea-kindly motion and directional stability, while exceptional fuel and water capacity support long-distance passages.
