The 2000 Leopard 38 is a fiberglass catamaran with a 38-foot length and 21-foot beam, powered by direct-drive diesel engines with shafts and propellers rather than traditional saildrive systems. The propellers have been upgraded to three-blade folding units for improved speed and handling. Standing rigging was replaced in 2017, and new sails were installed in 2022, including a full-batten mainsail, furling genoa, and spinnaker. The transom sugar scoops have been extended two feet to improve boarding access.
The accommodations comprise three staterooms, each with a double berth, and two heads with two separate showers. The owner's cabin spans the full length of the starboard hull and offers privacy as a dedicated master suite. The galley features an induction cooktop and microwave oven, with a freezer and refrigerator for provisions.
Power and systems have been recently updated. A new solar array charges a large lithium battery bank that supplies a high-output watermaker and two 12-volt air-conditioning units installed in 2024. Navigation electronics were upgraded in 2020 with new Garmin B&G systems including GPS plotter, radar, and autopilot. Additional features include an electric Lofrans windlass with a 44-pound Rocna anchor, VHF radio, depthsounder, and compass. Bottom paint was refreshed in 2025.
On deck, the yacht is equipped with a bimini top, lazy bag and lazy jacks for mainsail handling, wheel steering, and hot and cold cockpit shower. A Magma propane grill with mount, cockpit table, swim ladder, and outboard engine bracket complete the setup. The boat includes a 2023 West Marine 12-foot rigid inflatable dinghy with davit and a 15 HP Tohatsu outboard.
