2001 Cherubini Independence 45

The Independence 45 is a raised pilot house trawler built by Cherubini to a Geoffrey White and Hans Christian design. The boat features a semi-displacement hull with a 14.5-foot beam, hard chines aft to minimize rolling, and a long full keel that protects the propeller. A single 350-horsepower Cummins diesel engine powers the yacht to a cruising speed of 9 knots with strong fuel efficiency and seakeeping performance. The radar mast folds to allow passage under 13.5-foot bridge clearances.

The raised pilot house provides exceptional visibility and commanding presence on deck. Two cabins and two heads accommodate extended cruising and live-aboard use. The full-beam saloon is spacious and open, while the owner's and guest staterooms are finished in teak and mahogany with generous storage throughout. The upper deck offers room for a tender and davit system. Heavy-duty aluminum railings and raised hull sections forward ensure safety and comfortable work spaces around the exterior.

The boat was used in brackish Chesapeake Bay waters until 2007, after which it transitioned to freshwater operation with annual heated storage in the Great Lakes. A recent survey and mechanical inspection have been completed.
