The Crosswater Passagemaker 49 is a fiberglass catamaran designed for extended ocean passages. Twin Yanmar diesel engines produce 380 horsepower combined and work with a fuel capacity of 2,260 gallons to achieve a range of 5,000 nautical miles at 8 knots. The hull design features foam-filled bulbs at each bow that reduce wave-making resistance, improving efficiency and ride quality. Eight fuel tanks connect through a polishing and transfer system that supplies the two aft tanks independently to each engine. Hull construction is wood, epoxy, and fiberglass composite, with the superstructure built from fiberglass, wood, foam, and epoxy vacuum panels.
The pilothouse is purpose-built for navigation and watch-keeping, separated from social areas to allow crew on watch to maintain night vision. All windows are tempered safety glass with excellent visibility. The boat top deck carries 10 solar panels, radar antenna, and a KVH HD7 satellite dish, with lounge chairs creating a secondary outdoor social area. Air draft to the top of the satellite dish is 20 feet 7 inches, or 18 feet 4 inches with the dish removed.
The interior includes two staterooms and two heads. The master suite features a queen bed, ensuite head with tub and shower. The guest stateroom is convertible. Water capacity is 220 gallons and holding tank capacity is 20 gallons. Cruising speed is 9 knots with a maximum speed of 12 knots. The boat includes lounge chairs with cushions and covers, a West Marine folding lounge chair, floating lounge mats, and a two-person inflatable towable.
