This 54-foot Malcolm Tennant catamaran was built in 2001 by Pachoud Yachts of New Zealand and designed for blue-water expedition cruising. Her solid fiberglass hull with cored deck and house combines robust offshore capability with impressive range and fuel efficiency. Twin Cummins 6BT 270 horsepower diesels with variable-pitch propellers drive her to a cruising speed of 9.5 knots, with three separate helm stations—pilothouse, flybridge, and dual controls—providing excellent maneuverability and redundancy.
The yacht accommodates four to six people across two cabins, each with a double berth convertible to singles, plus three heads and two showers. The galley features a four-burner propane stove with oven, microwave, and refrigeration. Fresh water capacity runs to 330 gallons, with 1,500 gallons of diesel fuel supporting extended range, and all systems support cruising from a 12- and 24-volt electrical plant with generator backup.
From 2023 through 2025, the boat underwent extensive refitting: a complete hull and topside repaint, full bottom paint with July 2025 antifouling, new Garmin navigation suite, port engine rebuild, new house and start batteries, rebuilt alternators, new shore power system, and Starlink internet. Windows and hatches were re-bedded, the windlass was rewired with a new chain wheel, and through-hull fittings were renewed. An 11-foot dinghy with 20 horsepower outboard and davit system complete the setup for anchored cruising.
