2001 Northern Bay 36

This 2001 Northern Bay 36 is a downeast cruiser built on a traditional commercial lobster hull design by Spencer Lincoln and finished as a custom yacht by West Bay Boats in Steuben, Maine. The boat combines the seaworthiness of its working heritage with comfortable, stable cruising characteristics, delivering good fuel economy at displacement speeds and solid performance when run faster. A Yarmee 6CXM diesel engine rated at 465 horsepower has been fully rebuilt by a certified Yammer dealer and powers the boat to cruising speeds around 18 knots, or down to displacement speeds for 3-plus nautical miles per gallon.

The layout suits couples and small groups, with a forward master cabin and a drop-down dinette for guest accommodation. A flybridge with full controls allows for hands-on boat handling and open-air cruising in fair weather. Fuel and fresh water capacity support extended cruising range. An Espar diesel heater provides warmth during longer passages.

Recent service work includes a complete main engine cooling system overhaul with heat exchanger and after-cooler work completed in 2026, and fresh bottom paint applied in 2026. A newer Fischer Panda 4-kilowatt generator supplies auxiliary power.
