2001 Precision 23

The 2001 Precision 23 is a fiberglass trailerable cruiser designed to maximize usable space both on deck and below. The hull incorporates a shoal draft keel with internal lead ballast and a fiberglass centerboard, combined with a sharp waterline entry, substantial forward flare, and powerful quarter taper—a configuration that delivers lively performance, reliable handling, and high stability. The fractional rig with short spreaders and inboard chainplates supports impressive upwind performance, while the centerboard raises and lowers on a simple Dacron line for efficient sailing on all points.

The interior prioritizes an open, uncluttered feel. Bulkheads are trimmed back to avoid subdividing visual space, and the mast compression post has been eliminated through a clever overhead support beam fiberglass to the deck. Multiple cabin ports, a large companionway, and a forward hatch flood the cabin with light. The layout includes a generous double berth forward, full-sized berths aft that sleep three more, and a dedicated head space forward with a fixed galley positioned aft for convenient access to both cabin and cockpit. The 7-foot-3-inch cockpit features angled seats for comfort whether heeled or at anchor, high coamings for crew security, a ventilated fuel locker, and a sail locker.

Between 2021 and 2022, the boat underwent extensive reconditioning. The bottom was sanded and coated with two-part barrier epoxy and SeaHawk antifouling. New rubrail was installed, all gelcoat was buffed and revitalized in a three- to four-step process, and exterior teak received professional high-gloss varnish. Interior teak was cleaned, sanded, and refinished. The boat was repowered in 2024 with a Tohatsu Sail Pro engine and features a new deep-cycle battery and charger, LED lighting, roller furling genoa, and Polk Audio stereo with Fusion Signature speakers. Cabin USB outlets and most resealed deck hardware round out the upgrades. The boat is fitted with a galvanized tandem axle trailer and has been freshwater-kept throughout its life.
