The SportsCat 44 is an Australian-built power catamaran designed for efficient offshore cruising and extended time aboard. Built on the Gold Coast by SportsCat Construction, this 44-foot hull combines proven seakeeping characteristics with a stable, confident ride suited to both long-distance passages and fast coastal running. The catamaran's inboard lifting chines, fiberglassed into the hull sides, improve lift and reduce drag for smoother, more fuel-efficient performance while enhancing stability at speed.
Twin Yanmar 6LY2(M) diesel engines, each rated at 420 horsepower, drive the boat through Sea Rider surface propulsion by Levi of Italy. The port engine was professionally rebuilt to zero hours in 2022 and has run less than 100 hours since; the starboard engine was replaced in 2016 with approximately 1,100 hours. ZF 2-speed transmissions provide flexible power delivery. At 26 mph, the boat burns roughly one gallon per mile. The surface drives allow shallow-water operation and beach access while delivering quiet, responsive handling at cruising speeds around 22 mph, with top speeds to 32 mph.
Below deck, the SportsCat accommodates two staterooms and two heads. The master stateroom features a 5 ft 11 in–wide berth at the head, tapering to 5 ft 3 in at the base, and measures 6 ft 5 in long, with private ensuite and individual climate control. A guest stateroom holds a double berth. Four reverse-cycle air-conditioning units condition the spaces. The galley includes a new Vitrifrigo stainless steel refrigerator, new two-burner induction cooktop, microwave, and ice maker. Upper and lower helm stations feature comprehensive Garmin electronics including twin 8610 and 8610XSV chartplotters.
An Onan 10.5 kW diesel generator with 1,511 hours supports onboard systems. The boat carries dual 30-amp shore power, a dual-bank battery charger, on-demand hot water, and four underwater lights installed in 2025. A hydraulic and electric davit crane with mounting frame handles tender deployment. The fiberglass hull and deck are built to ABYC standards using E-glass fabrics and isophthalic gelcoat.
