2002 Bavaria 40
About This Yacht
The 2002 Bavaria 40 is a 40-foot fiberglass sailing yacht built for responsive handling and ease of operation. Renowned among sailors for its balanced design and light touch under sail, this boat delivers confident performance whether cruising coastal waters or venturing farther offshore. The beam of over 13 feet provides excellent stability and interior volume, while the deep keel and efficient rig ensure the yacht remains manageable under sail with minimal crew.
Below deck, the layout comprises two cabins and two heads. The forward owner's cabin features a V-berth, generous storage, and an en-suite head with shower. The aft guest cabin offers a wide double berth with convenient access to the second head. The main salon is bright and airy, with rich wood finishes, a U-shaped settee, dining table, and a fully equipped galley including stove, oven, fridge, and counter space. All lines lead aft to a spacious cockpit designed for easy handling.
The single Volvo Penta diesel engine produces 50 horsepower, delivering a cruising speed of approximately 5.65 knots and a maximum speed of 7.82 knots. In 2023, the engine was rebuilt. Recent upgrades also include a new Garmin chartplotter, newly rebedded lifelines and stanchions, and sails in good condition. The purchase includes all materials for a new sprayhood and bimini, including hardware, canvas, and isinglass. Systems are in working order throughout the yacht.
