The 2002 Hunter Passage 450 is a 45-foot fiberglass cruising sailboat built for extended time away from the marina. She carries a 76-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, in-mast furling mainsail, and roller-furling 110% genoa, with a cruising speed around 7 knots.
The yacht sleeps six across three cabins and includes two heads. Below deck, the layout supports comfortable live-aboard cruising with galley, saloon, and sleeping quarters. Topside, a new cockpit bimini with full enclosure and screens provides weather protection, with additional sun awnings for cruising in warm climates.
This boat has been substantially upgraded for independent cruising. The power system centers on a Victron setup with 1,650 watts of solar generation via three Renogy 550-watt panels. An 8-kilowatt Kohler generator provides backup, paired with six AGM batteries. Navigation electronics include a new B&G suite: Vulcan 12 chartplotter with Navpod, WS310 wind sensor, two Triton displays, Halo 20+ radar, and DST-820 speed and depth sensor. AIS transmit and receive, Navman autopilot, and Starlink satellite internet are installed. The Yanmar completed full service in 2024 with 2,350 hours; the generator was serviced in August 2025. Sails were upgraded in 2020 and 2023. An 11-foot RIB tender with 15-horsepower and 6-horsepower Mercury outboards, Atlantic Tower Easy Hoist davits, cockpit bimini, and a queen mattress in the aft stateroom were all added in 2024 or later.
