The Hylas 46 is a proven offshore cruiser, and this 2002 example has been systematically upgraded for serious passage-making. The hull, designed by Germán Frers, combines a confident seakindly motion with the interior volume needed for comfortable extended cruising. Powered by a 75 hp Yanmar diesel, the boat carries a 63-foot ICW mast and measures 46 feet overall with a 13.75-foot beam.
The boat's systems reflect recent, purposeful investment. New standing and running rigging were installed in 2022, paired with a 2024 Doyle mainsail. The power plant includes a 6 kW Northern Lights generator (2019) and dual 270Ah lithium house batteries (2019). A CruiseRO watermaker capable of 36 gallons per hour, three-zone reverse-cycle air conditioning, and a Dometic washer/dryer support extended time at sea. The AutoProp three-blade propeller was rebuilt in 2024. Navigation relies on a B&G Zeus chartplotter installed in 2025, with Starlink connectivity.
Below deck, the layout includes two staterooms with ensuite heads, a separate aft shower stall, and convertible saloon berths. Electric primary winches ease shorthanded sailing operations. The boat completed the World ARC program in 2022–2023, with systems proven through that ocean-crossing passage.
