The 2005 Island Packet 445 is a center cockpit cruising sailboat built on a fiberglass hull, 45 feet 9 inches long with a 14-foot beam. Powered by a single 75-horsepower Yanmar diesel engine, it achieves a cruising speed of 6.5 knots and a maximum speed of 8 knots. The design prioritizes the comfort and seakeeping qualities Island Packet is known for, with careful attention to construction details throughout—geared rack and pinion steering, swedged fuel fittings, thru-bolted seacocks and prop shaft couplings, and magnetic reed bilge pump switches all contribute to long-term reliability.
The interior accommodates two cabins and two heads. Tank storage is centrally located below the cabin sole to optimize stability and preserve interior space, with minimal trim effect. Electrical systems feature high-output alternators with Digital Duo-Charge controllers, premium pre-tinned wiring, and large-capacity AGM batteries.
Recent updates include five new lifeline AGM group 31XT batteries installed in 2024, a new group 27 starter battery from February 2024, and two new Blue Sky MPPT charger controllers from March 2024. Engine mounts were replaced in 2024, and a Yanmar serpentine belt conversion was completed. The pedestal, winch, and hatch covers are new from 2023. The bottom was freshly painted in January 2025, and the engine was freshly water flushed for summer storage.
Equipment includes a 10-foot Caribe dinghy with a 15-horsepower Yamaha outboard, dual anchors (44-pound spade primary and 44-pound Bruce secondary), an SSB/HAM ICOM M802 radio, and sails maintained by A&F Sails. The boat is supplied with kitchen utensils, pots, pans, and various tools.
