The Bestevaer 65 is a modern aluminum sailing yacht designed by Gerard Dykstra Naval Architects and built by KM Yachtbuilders. At 65.72 feet in length with a 15.26-foot beam, she combines contemporary engineering with a design lineage tracing back to the legendary Zwerver, a 1956 Sparkman & Stephens design. The hull features a fixed bulb keel and a carbon boom, providing efficient sailing characteristics.
The yacht underwent significant refitting in 2019 and 2020, which included a new teak deck, hull repaint, mast and boom refinishing, rod rigging renewal, and varnish work on deck paintwork. Beginning in 2021, the current owner has continued extensive upgrades and maintenance to ensure the boat remains in excellent condition. Recent work includes a new propeller shaft, updated rudder bearings, cleaned fuel tanks, new Dyneema halyards, and renewed electrical systems with lithium batteries, a new charger, and inverter.
Navigation and convenience systems have been upgraded with new B&G equipment and an Oscar camera installation. A new code zero sail on a furler rounds out the sailing inventory. The yacht has been professionally maintained throughout these refits, ensuring all systems are current and ready for extended cruising.
