The Dufour 40 Performance is a 2003 sailing yacht built to excel across multiple roles—racing, cruising, and ocean passages. Designed by Umberto Felci, she combines speed with comfort and the simplicity needed for single-handed sailing. The fiberglass hull measures 39 feet with a 13-foot beam, powered by a 38-horsepower Volvo MD2040 diesel engine (2,300 hours) fitted with a new alternator and Max Prop three-blade folding propeller.
The yacht is laid out with two cabins and one head. The forward cabin features an enlarged berth of 220 by 150 centimetres with a custom mattress, notably wider than the original specification. A heated foul-weather locker keeps wet gear isolated from the main living space. The aft storage is generous. The saloon converts into an additional berth if needed. Webasto diesel heating runs throughout with insulated ducting, digital timer control, and optional ventilation mode. Lighting is full LED; the saloon, galley, and forward cabin each have dimmable LED strips with remote controls.
Electrical systems include 400 watts of solar panels managed by a Victron MPPT controller with Bluetooth monitoring, three 110-amp-hour service batteries, and a 12-volt to 220-volt inverter. Dual USB ports are fitted in both cabins and at the chart table. Navigation and electronics encompass an integrated AIS transceiver with OpenCPN, Furuno 1623 radar, Furuno GP-32 GPS, Navtex receiver, dual-frequency VHF with wireless repeater and MOB wristband, and full instrumentation including speedometer, depthsounder, and anemometer. A marine-grade 12-volt computer and flat screen on a rotating arm provide chart table display with Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity.
The sail wardrobe includes a full-batten mainsail with three reefing points (two and three controllable from the helm), a Furuno-equipped furling genoa, symmetrical spinnaker, and storm jib on removable stay. Both main and jib are Dimension Polyant DCX tri-radial. Safety equipment comprises a serviced EPIRB, serviced life raft, full offshore safety kit, and dual anchor systems: primary with 60 metres of chain and an oversized Delta, plus secondary anchor with chain and line. The yacht carries 100 metres of anchor rode overall.
